Staff from Harold Stock & Co. Solicitors gathered together at a local restaurant last night to celebrate the 60-something-th birthday of the firm’s founding Partner, Paul Stock. Paul founded the firm in 1978 and was the first Solicitor to practice commercial law outside of the City centre. Paul retired as a Partner in the firm some years ago and is now employed on a Consultancy basis. He specialises in all aspects of company and commercial law and is well known and respected in this field.

With another birthday under his belt, are there any signs of Mr Stock slowing down? Whilst he may have retired as a Partner a number of years ago, Paul has been busier than ever as a Consultant. We know that one day, Paul will wish to start winding down and the firm has been busy nuturing homegrown talent to follow in his footsteps. Tom Simpson, Solicitor and Head of our Residential Conveyancing Department has been working alongside Paul for a number of years but has recently made the move to our Mossley office in order to work more closely with Paul and his clients. Tom continues to oversee the conveyancing departments in Stockport and Mossley.
Tom trained as a Solicitor at the firm and shortly after qualification, moved over to our then newly established Stockport office. Whilst in the Stockport office, Tom developed a successful residential conveyancing team from a standing start, an accomplishment that an experienced Solicitor would be proud of, let alone a newly qualified. Tom has shown tenacity and strength of character and we can see no better placed person within the Practice to take over the reigns of the Commercial Department in the future.
In the meantime, whilst he may be another year older, there are no real signs of Paul slowing down. He still works longer hours than most, travels the length and breadth of the Country (sometimes Continent) to meet with clients, and sends more emails than the rest of us put together!
Happy birthday, Mr Stock.
