There’s plenty to celebrate and reflect on this year at Harold Stock and Co. solicitors.
2023 marks 45 years since the firm opened – a testament to the hard work and fair, friendly advice we’ve been giving the people of Stockport, Tameside, and Manchester. We’ve supported clients through many major life events – both good and bad – and have been there for them every step of the way.

One thing our lawyers make sure to do is explain things in plain English. We know legal-speak is hard to understand, and if you don’t understand what we’re saying you might not get the best outcome. So, we always tailor our legal advice to both you and your situation, and explain it in simple terms.
We say we’re ‘rooted in the community’ because we have been established in our local community for decades. As well as looking after the local people who are our clients, we’ve also supported local charities, schools, and universities.
We’ve had members of staff go back to their local high school to talk to pupils, helping them think about and prepare for their next steps. We’ve also taken part in will writing events to raise funds for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. Obstacle courses and colour runs for St Ann’s Hospice, and sponsored annual events for the Anthony Seddon Fund. These charities do incredible things for our local community and we’re honoured to help them in any way we can.
More recently we’ve started doing our bit for the environment by planting a tree for every new matter. It’s important to us that we give back where we can, and long may it continue.
35 years of service
Our owner, Darren McGuinness, first walked through the doors of Harold Stock and Co. as a fresh-faced 15-year-old on work experience. Throughout these 35 years Darren has gone from professional brew maker, to qualified solicitor, to owner of the firm.
We’d like to congratulate Darren on his impressive length of service. You’ve made a real difference to people across the North West and further afield during your time with us.

Darren’s 50th birthday
It’s no surprise that Darren was in the Stockport office on his 50th birthday last month. Apparently he just can’t be kept away!
We hope you enjoyed the Facebook photo of you in your branded birthday hat and managed to have a day with slightly fewer phone calls than usual. What dedication to spend such a big milestone in the office helping clients.
